Data Security - Compliance, Background Checks

This is the third of a series of articles on data security.

COMPLIANCE

A simpler process to follow is to adhere to compliances for the relevant industry. Each industry – finance, pharmaceutical, law enforcement, CJIS, SEC, real estate, clinical research, retail etc. has it’s own compliance requirement. Best route is to abide by the respective compliance requirements. That will, in most cases, take care of the high-level requirements. Add the other layers of data security processes over and above these compliance requirements.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

These days most businesses require background checks for their employees. This being definitely a good strategy, it is almost just a routine process with no repetitions. Every person involved in accessing sensitive data should be required to go through proper background checks with fingerprinting and compliance certifications at least once in two years, if not every year.
